The Wilmslow Triathlon, which always sells out well in advance, will be back in the Cheshire town for the 8th time on Sunday 11th May 2014.

Following a record-breaking year in 2013 with 596 finishers and astrong presence from triathlon clubs across the region, the Wilmslow Triathlon continues to grow andanyone who wants to take part should sign up as soon as possible.

Based at the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, the 400m swim takes place in the 5 lane 25m indoor pool and the transition area as well as the start and finish are on the cricket pitch. The picturesque, mainly flat 24.2 km cycle ride takes the competitors around the Cheshire countryside and the 6.3km run goes around East Wilmslow’s leafy roads, a mostly flat route with some inclines near the River Bollin.

The well organised and popular Wilmslow Triathlon has been consistently growing in size and popularity over the last few years, attracting novices, experienced and elite triathletes alike. Event costs are £42 for individual entries or £55 for relay team entries, including numbered racking, electronic chip timing and an excellent goody bag. The prize giving takes place after the event, with prizes awarded in the following categories: overall winners (male and female), male and female age groups, relay team prize, club prize (first 3 athletes from the same club) and novice prize.

The current course records are held by Roger Witz Barnes (01:05:41) and Dominique Searle (01:15:49), and the Wilmslow Triathlon is widely referred to as ‘the biggest and best sprint triathlon in Greater Manchester and beyond’.
